St Aloysius University, Jai Tulunad Hold Tulu Script Workshop

St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Jai Tulunad (R.) Kudla Unit, organized the one-day "Tulu Lipi Polabu" workshop to promote and preserve the traditional Tulu script. Held at Joseph Willy Hall, the programme introduced students and enthusiasts to the history and practical use of the ancient Tigalari script. Expert instructors Uday Poonja Tharipadigutthu, Rajashree Chandrashekar, Shilpashri Tuluvedi, Chirashree Deralakatte, and Rohini Shetty Manel led the sessions. Supported by the university administration, the initiative strengthened awareness of Tulu heritage and encouraged continued efforts to preserve the region's linguistic legacy.

Pustaka Habba 2026’ Concludes with Overwhelming Response to Tulu Script Workshop

The three-day ‘Pustaka Habba 2026’, organized by Sahitya Kendra Mangaluru at Sanghanikethana, successfully concluded on August 16,17,18. A major highlight of the book festival was the 'Bale Tulu Lipit Pudar Bareka' (Let's Write Names in Tulu Script) workshop, hosted by the Jai Tulunad (Reg.) Kudla Unit. Aimed at promoting the native Tulu script, the initiative received an exceptional response. Hundreds of enthusiastic attendees, including youth and children, joyfully learned to write their names in Tulu. Vice President Chetan Anchan, alongside a dedicated team of Tulu script teachers, guided the participants, earning widespread appreciation from literature enthusiasts.

The “Tulunada Kesarda Gobbu” traditional mud sports event was successfully held at Taripadi on July 19, 2026, jointly organized by Taripadi Javanere Kala, Taripadi Ponjovule Kala, and Jai Tulunad (R.) Kudla Unit. Celebrating Aati month and Tulu culture, children, youth, and elders enthusiastically participated in tug-of-war, mud running, Thappangayi, pot-breaking, and three-legged races. The event united Tuluvas and celebrated their deep connection with Tulu soil and traditions.

Volunteer Service and Tulu Script Campaign at Sasihitlu Temple

The Jai Tulunad (R.) Kudla Unit conducted a volunteer service and ‘Bale Tulu Lipit Pudar Bareka’ campaign during the Brahmakalashotsava at Sri Bhagavathi Temple, Sasihitlu, on Sunday, March 8, 2026 (Maayi 23). Volunteers actively assisted with the temple festivities, while the Tulu script awareness desk attracted many devotees, who enthusiastically had their names written in traditional Tulu script. The Tulu script campaign was supported by Keerthan R. Kotian, Rohini Shetty, Bhavishya Sandeep, Santhosh Katpadi, Kiran Tuluve, Sharath Raj Alankar and Aishwarya Innanje. The volunteer service was led by Rajashree Chandrashekhar, Uday Poonja, Akshith Kenjar and Jeevitha Kuttar, along with other members and volunteers. The initiative highlighted the organization’s commitment to preserving Tulu language, script and cultural heritage.

The Jai Tulunad (R.) Kudla Unit organized the ‘Bale Tulu Lipit Pudar Bareka’ (Come, write your name in Tulu script) program on Saturday, February 21, 2026, during the Ekaha Bhajana Mangalotsava at Sridevi Bhajana Mandira, Kenjar-Karambar. The program aimed to create awareness about the traditional Tulu script and encourage its use among the public. Devotees and local residents participated enthusiastically and had their names written in Tulu script. Tulu Script Instructor Shilpashree Tuluvedi, Savitha Karkera Kavoor, Akshith Kenjar, Sharath Raj Alankar and Manish Kumar Alankar supported the initiative. The organizers thanked the temple committee for providing an opportunity to promote and preserve Tulunadu’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage.

Shramadhana at Tarabari Jumadi Bunta Daivasthana

A Shramadhana (voluntary service) was held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Tarabari Jumadi Bunta Daivasthana, a sacred site of the Kenjar-Pejavara Magane. Members of the Jai Tulunad (R.) Central Committee and Kudla Unit participated with devotion and enthusiasm. Central Committee members Niranjan Karkera, Chandrashekhar Devipura and Purnima Kiran, along with Savitha Karkera of the Baravuoda Bitthil Literature Wing, joined the service. Kudla Unit office-bearers led by President Rajashree Chandrashekhar, along with Chetan Anchan, Akshith Kenjar, Bhavishya Sandeep, Sharathraj Alankar, Jeevitha Kuttar and Chirag, participated with volunteers Shayana and local residents. The Daivasthana Committee appreciated their selfless service, highlighting the role of youth in preserving Tulunadu’s cultural heritage.
